Description

Half Left is a top-down shooter horror game.

You are a nurse, trapped in the aftermath of a mysterious biological disaster.

Everyone inside the facility has turned into grotesque, invisible creatures—once human, now horrors of flesh and bone.

But fate had more in store for you.

Infected and desperate, you stopped the mutation the only way you could—by cutting off your own legs.

Now, confined to a wheelchair and armed with a strange flashlight, you must navigate the dark, decaying corridors of the complex.

Keep the light on.

Stay quiet.

And remember—sometimes, the things you can’t see are far worse than those you can.

This game breaks the familiar control instincts you’ve always relied on—
because this time, you’re not moving on your own two feet…
you’re moving on a WHEELCHAIR.

Narrative

The year is 2042, in a universe parallel to our own.
Here, interplanetary exploration has led humanity to new horizons—new worlds once thought unreachable.
But curiosity about the unknown isn’t always a virtue.
Once again, mankind has brought catastrophe upon Earth itself.
And we… or rather, the protagonist of this story, are nothing more than a grain of sand swept along by the storm—struggling desperately to cling to life.

Key Features

- MOVEMENT AND SURVIVAL STRATEGY
  • Partially simulates how a wheelchair moves in reality.
  • Moving around in a wheelchair requires a bit more dexterity and arm strength. Playing Half Left can build up your arm muscles.
  • Every push of the wheels must be calculated carefully.
- SPECTRUM FLASHLIGHT
  • Your flashlight can switch between different spectrums of light—unveiling what the human eye was never meant to see.
  • Stay sharp. Pay attention to the signs only a trained eye can notice—and switch to the right spectrum before it’s too late.
- GEAR AND WEAPON
  • For reasons unknown, the weapons you wield in 2042 are relics of a bygone era—crafted and used in the fashion of the old American Wild West.
  • Clunky, heavy, and slow—but every bullet they fire can be trusted to hit when it matters most.
  • Always check your weapon before a fight. In a place like this, that small habit might be the only thing keeping you alive.

Now, I can't say that playing this game was necessarily "fun", but it sure was evocative and emotionally satisfying. Real Darkwood vibes out here, with the top-down view and lighting being so essential to survival. Also, dark and gloomy art style and masterfully staged horror moments (like that corridor in the very first level!).

But the main point of interest for me was the movement mechanic. It is a risky move to make basic movement in the game so deliberately difficult and frustrating, even, but it all paid out in the end, at least for me. Because the feeling of absolute dread and vulnerability that comes with this is just so palpably real. And also, being a person in the world and knowing about people with disabilities who have to use wheelchairs and how absolutely nightmarishly difficult even the most banal and everyday things can be for them (zombies is one thing, but god forbid if this game would have have a long stairway section - now this would be a real horror!), really adds up to the experience of horror. Game catches this feeling well, very clever control scheme design, with each movement requiring you to really physically push the mouse.

Overall, masterful work. Very impressive!

Your comments and following the product have helped us a lot in spirit. Interesting ideas will always be considered by our team. In the near future, there will be a more complete Demo for Steam. Please wait for this version. <3

The idea is really interesting, and more importantly, the gameplay, art, atmosphere, and mechanics are all very well balanced. I’m looking forward to a more complete version of it. Keep up the effort!

We will make it more interesting. Thank you for feedback <3

A little gameplay, a little critique ;)

My team and I are truly happy that you played the game slowly, mindfully, and with real immersion.
It means even more to us that, as this is our very first game and game jam entry, we’ve had such a thoughtful player like you not only play but also create promotional content for us. We honestly didn’t expect to receive this much support from everyone.

That really gives us the motivation to develop a full and complete version on Steam, one that, thanks to your feedback, will be fully upgraded in both gameplay and visuals.

Once again, thank you so much. We’re setting up a community channel, and we’d be really happy if you could join our Discord to follow our devlog and upcoming updates.

Launches to black screen. Can hear audio, but no picture. Nvidia RTX 2080 Super

We're really sorry about what you experienced, but this is just a lightweight web version of the game. Please try pressing F5 and playing in full-screen mode to see if it helps.

reminds me of that horror game where you only have one arm

You mean the game Endoparasitic? Yes, that’s right! We were inspired by that game, but we also implemented some different ideas :33333

Great game! Looking forward for future updates.

You can follow discord to always have the latest announcements.

Just finished playing it and I was surprised by how well it conveys the feeling of having restricted movement. It really puts you in the character’s shoes. Movement controls feel solid overall, I didn’t run into any issues. The art direction is awesome too, clearly a lot of love was put into it and I’d love to see more of it in future updates. A few small things though: I bumped into some minor bugs here and there. For level design, once I pass through an area that I don’t need to revisit, it’d be nicer if the doors closed behind me so I don’t get turned around. I’m still not fully sure what’s going on with the story yet. Also the monster cell/core could use clearer visual cues as I only noticed it by accident when I got close enough to catch the red light. Overall though, this is definitely something worth continuing. The devs clearly care about what they’re making. Keep it up guys!

Thanks for playing the product. We will continue to develop the game. My team's expectations will still be to produce interesting and quality products. Who knows, there will be a more complete version on steam in the near future.

7/10

My hand almost fell off after trying to navigate through the 1st map. It's a sad thing that the GD didn't include user experience in the tutorial, so I didn't know which map detail is intentional and which detail is just decorative. Otherwise, it ain't bad, looking forward to future updates

10/10 — it might be hard to control, but that’s exactly what the game is about! :) I love the atmosphere. You guys built it so damn well. I’ll play more and leave a detailed review later.

10/10 I dare not accept. But if you share my game everywhere I accept.

I really like the perspective and visual design of this game. You guys did a good job of showing the "hot" and horror of the characters and the surrounding scenes. Although I had difficulty with the movement of the character, I can't blame him since he is in a wheelchair. Lmao. Anyway, you guys are doing a great job of conveying the content of the game, I was hoping it would be a little longer and maybe you would consider editing the movement of this game. I am satisfied with the experience. 7/10

The nurse is so hot.
My fingers are burning from dragging the wheelchair
The gun shoots slow but effective.

To be continue is not in past tensed.

Great game
